Rosie & Alistar welcome you to share their home and relax in a real Kiwi homestay.

The backpackers itself is situated in a quiet area just 15 minutes’ walk to the lake & town. We started the backpacker homestay as a family nearly 20 years ago and, especially now that our four children have grown, we love sharing our home with visitors from all around the world on a daily basis.

As lovers of the great outdoors we never tire of the dramatic landscape and fun activities that Fiordland National Park and Te Anau have to offer. We are delighted to share this excellent local knowledge with our visitors. Alistar’s 24yrs experience working as a DOC ranger throughout Fiordland and Stewart Island as well as his interest in alpine regions and avalanche forecasting combines with with Rosie’s work as a hut warden, and her ongoing interest in tramping and means that you have a wealth of information and experience at your fingertips when you stay at Rosie’s Backpackers.

Rosie’s offers visitors the perfect place to relax after enjoying Fiordland National Park. Our warm, spacious environment is also eco-friendly. Solar hot water for a nice warm shower to relax your tired muscles. There is a BBQ & outside dining with relaxing seating, for those chilled out moments.  We also have some quality guitars and tuned piano for your evening’s entertainment!

We have tea/coffee available and homemade sourdough bread and toppings only for breakfast.  Fresh herbs are available for your evening meals.
